Dr Zuhra Ahmad MBBS, BSc (hons), MRCPCH, PG Cert (Clinical Ed)

Dr Zuhra Ahmad is a UK trained Consultant Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician with over 15 years of experience in Paediatrics in London. She is dual accredited on the GMC specialist register for Paediatrics with a subspeciality in community child health. She trained at Guy’s, King’s & St. Thomas’s School of Medicine, King’s College London, graduating with clinical distinction and completed a PG Cert in clinical education from University College London (UCL), London.

Dr Ahmad is an NHS substantive consultant at Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS trust, where she is the lead for paediatric training, medical education and audit.  Her private practice is based at the Clementine Churchill Hospital in Harrow, London.

Her interests include children with developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder and paediatric sleep difficulties.  As a paediatrician and mother of two children, Dr Ahmad is also happy to be consulted about a variety of general paediatric conditions, including bedwetting, constipation, healthy baby checks and general paediatric health assessments. 

Dr Ahmad has completed both the Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI-R) and Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) courses for Autism assessment, Griffith’s developmental assessment course, Paediatric Epilepsy Training (PET 1, 2 & 3) and Sleep Practitioner training. She is skilled in delivering the Schedule of growing skills 2 developmental screening tool to provide parents rapid feedback about their child’s development. 

Her undergraduate years were spent at Guy’s, King’s and St. Thomas’ Medical School in London, where she graduated in 2005 with distinction in her medical degree. She also completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in clinical and molecular endocrinology from Kings’ College London. 

After completing her medical degree, Dr Zuhra Ahmad worked in a number of highly prestigious hospitals in Central London during her paediatric speciality training. These included Great Ormond Street Hospital (neurology), University College London Hospital (neonates), St Mary’s Hospital (Imperial NHS Trust; neurodisability and infectious diseases) and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital (community child health and general paediatrics).

She has been awarded prizes both nationally and internationally from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child health (RCPCH), British Medical Journal (BMJ), and International Healthcare innovation (IHI), British Association of Childhood Disability (BACD) for presenting her Quality Improvement projects and children’s mental health promotion work. 

Dr Ahmad has a passion for undergraduate and postgraduate education. She has completed a PG Certificate in Clinical Education from University College London, London. She has previously designed and directed a communication course for doctors preparing for their Royal College membership exams.  She is currently involved in the clinical supervision and training of Imperial College London medical students and North West London paediatric trainees.
